ARM is working to develop a special processor self-driving car
After being acquired by the Japanese company Soft bank in exchange for $ 31 billion; ARM company decided to expand its business to create a custom processor strong enough to deal with a self-driving cars data.
The new processor named cortex - R 52, and will focus on simplifying the data processing is not in automotive applications, but also in industrial robots, as well as in the medical sector.
The new chip will be able to identify gaps in the process, if it was discovered a problem; to be determined by the processor, and perhaps automatically stop the car before passengers or bystanders exposed to both risk. This feature, although good in itself, but it may also mean more serious in the case of the processor subjected to any problem.
Also, the cortex - R 52 35% faster than the previous generation - RSS cortex 5 - and is expected to reach new processors to the market formally in 2018.
